I killed a bunny last night

Saturday night was the Lennex show at the Stone Cellar in Ellicott City. Do I need to describe that I had a good time? No. That’s a given.
I went to Fletcher’s last night to see Oddzar and Truth Be Told. Great music and fun times. The place had a good amount of people for a Monday night, but it wasn’t packed. But it was better that way. Quality over quantity. For real. A lot of the people who went to the Lennex show were there.
Of course, I did my typical “I’m leaving after the bands are done! I have to work tomorrow” thing. Then it was “Okay, I’ll go downstairs. But only for a minute!” And eventually it was “Well, it’s 1:30, I might as well stay until close”. And then the “I shouldn’t be outside talking, I will only get a few hours of sleep” situation happened. At least I turned down going to some of the afterparties.
Mike Miller from gODHEAD showed up later. He was hanging out downstairs. He’s a nice guy. gODHEAD are on tour with Jonathan Davis and played at the 9:30 Club earlier that night. They’re playing an acoustic set Thanksgiving evening at Fletcher’s (not with Jonathan Davis) and I’ll be there. I’m looking forward to it.
I was in a great mood all night. But during the drive home, I hit a bunny! I tried not to hit him, but he just ran so quickly that even though I braked and swerved, it didn’t do any good. Still, I’m not happy about that. I’m surprised it was a bunny. I haven’t seen too many in that area of Mount Washington before. I’ve actually been slightly worried that I might hit a deer or fox because they are everywhere in my neighborhood since they turned the golf course and the quarry into neighborhoods for the wealthy. The animals’ homes are gone now and so they just run into the street. I feel badly for the animals, especially since they are so cute! Haha, I know it shouldn’t matter what they look like. But still, it makes it even sadder. I didn’t even know there were foxes in this area until they built those $600,000 houses. Rich people ruining everything! (JK).

Edit (4:04 PM EST) – I forgot to mention that I won the Retarded Dance Contest last night. I know that’s not a politically correct name for something, but I didn’t make up the name. And I should mention I didn’t have much competition haha.

This past Memorial Day weekend

Most of the memorial days of the past several years, I have had to work. This year, I had the day off. So I was all excited.  The times when I had to work, there were always great parties, cookouts, shows, etc. going on.  It seemed like I was missing out on the “party of the year”.  So guess what? This year when I have off, there is nothing worthwhile happening.  LAME.

But the weekend all-in-all wasn’t bad.  Friday though, I didn’t go out. I had to take my mom to the hospital. She’s doing better. She recently had shingles, and some people have excruciating pain  and unbearable itchiness weeks, months, or years afterward.  She was absolutely screaming in pain.  I felt so horrible that I couldn’t take that pain away for her.  She said the pain is the worst pain she’s ever felt – even more severe than childbirth.  She has permanent nerve damage and her eye is messed up. She also has red scars that might never completely go away. I hate illnesses so much.

Saturday, I saw Lennex at the Recher Theatre.  They are always great. But hardly anyone was there for them, which I found odd. Then I realized it was because everyone apparently decided to go out of town for the weekend, yet no one I actually knew was out of town. So where was everyone? There were a bunch of people there for the band that went on right before Lennex, a band called Ashes Remain.  You’d think they were a hardcore band by the name, but they were somewhat of a jam band with more mainstream appeal.  The Ashes Remain fans that stuck around for Lennex actually seemed pretty impressed, which was awesome considering the two different styles and the fact that they really seemed like they were just there for the band they came to see.

Sunday, my friend Adam and I went to a bunch of different bars. Hardly anyone we knew was out.  It wasn’t until we went to the Depot that we had an awesome time. I got to see some people I hadn’t hung out with in a while.  I only had two drinks – an amaretto sour (which is what I almost always order these days) and a vodka martini with some of the nicest, biggest olives I’ve ever had. I had them at the Club Charles (which is right by the Depot).  The martini really snuck up on me because I was feeling “nice” the rest of the evening!

A friend of mine, Dave, was in town and I missed him. It sucked! He was at the Rec Room after Lennex but I had already left. He lost his phone and didn’t have my number anymore. When my other friend Dave called me to tell me he was there, I called but his number had been changed. By the time I finally got a hold of him, it was Sunday night and he had to get up early the next morning to drive back to North Carolina.  He’s a soldier now, so I don’t know when I will see him again. He’s one of those awesome people that I’d talk to forever about stuff. It’s always the quality people that go away.

Past weekend-photo shoot, mall walking, etc.

Original entry: http://cherryteresa.greatestjournal.com/2007/02/05/

This past weekend was a nice one. Friday night, I went to see the fabulous Big in Japan at the Ottobar. They are the type of band that you really go there for the music because it is so good. You don’t just go see them because it’s something to do. But it does also end up being a social event because I’ll see people that I know at the shows. (Lennex is one of those bands for me, too. But they were playing a little too far away on Friday, in Arlington, VA).

Saturday during the day, my friend Adam and I went to Arundel Mills Mall to walk. Last week, we went to Towson Mall and Eastpoint the week before. Yes, that’s right, I have turned into a crazy mall walker. No, but really, it’s a good way to stay motivated during the wintertime. I don’t want to walk in the cold weather, especially the way it’s been the past couple of days. But I want to still exercise. I can’t afford a gym membership and from bad stories I’ve heard, the only gyms I would want to join are the non-chain ones, which I notice cost even more money. (I’m not bashing gyms, I’m just saying they’re not for me. At least not right now, maybe they will be in the future). So walking in the mall solves the problem of not wanting to join a gym but not wanting to walk out in the cold. I wish I‘d thought about this a couple years ago when I lived in a neighborhood where you don’t want to walk outside any time of the year. Oh well. Better late than never.

Saturday night, I went to see Eleven 54 and Ballyhoo! at the Stone Cellar in Ellicott City. (It’s the basement of the Blue Point Grille). The show was really fun and the Stone Cellar is a place I like to visit here and there. If you live in the area, you’ve probably heard of it. But those who don’t venture outside of Baltimore city often for places to hang out might consider it a nice little hidden gem. The crowd seemed to be a nice mix of regulars who go there all the time and those who ventured out solely for the bands.

Sunday, I went to do a photo shoot for Jim Lucio, a.k.a. Defekto. It’s going to be in Gutter Magazine. It wasn’t what I expected, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. He told me he’d have clothes there from Killer Trash but to also bring some of my own. I obviously had no idea of the clothes he wanted me to bring, because none of it was right. Luckily, what he wanted me to wear that he had actually fit me. One of the outfits I wore ended up being these baby blue plastic pants with suspenders with a silver scarf and the type of hat you saw men wear in old movies and some older men still wear today. But I liked the hat. I ended up kind of looking like a 90s raver who took the wrong drugs and tried to look like they were from the 1920s and poor. But the way Jim puts together weird things ends up working somehow. He has visions, and from what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen, you have to just trust it. One of the many things that I like and respect about Jim is his idea of “beauty” or “art”. None of the people he chose to be in the photo shoot looked anything alike at all. They were people of different sizes and shapes and just totally different looks and people with different features. I think a true artist has the ability to see things in a certain way, if that makes sense. Anyway, the other concept he came up with for me to wear is weird! You will probably get a good laugh. And trust me when I say you won’t be able to tell that it’s me when you see the pictures. I’d explain more about what the shoot was like, but really you’ll just find out from the photos when they come out. I will post either the photos or the link to them when the time comes.

Holidays

Original entry and comments: http://cherryteresa.greatestjournal.com/2006/12/28/

I didn’t do anything too exciting this year but I can’t complain. On Christmas, I went over to my mother’s and had dinner. It was good to spend time with her. And I talked to some relatives I hadn’t spoken with in a long time over the phone.

I almost didn’t go to my mother’s because I have been sick and I wasn’t feeling well on Christmas. I had to take a nap before I went there and I didn’t stay long because it hurt to even sit up. For more than two and half weeks now I’ve been sick and in pain. I have an infection that spread to my neck, shoulders, back, spine (spine is the most painful area with this illness), and even into my thighs, legs, and arms.

I do feel like I am getting better though. Slowly. I just hope that I am feeling better or at least decent by New Years Eve. If I have to stay home, I will be very angry! I bought tickets to see Lennex/Agents of the Sun at Fletchers. It should be a good show!

Random thoughts

[1:58 am]
Music Jay-Z "99 Problems" (Jay-Z gettin’ shot!)

I have three of the new Lennex songs. They’re amazing. I love it.

I love playing these out of state shows. But I want to keep it goin’… go even further away… I want to tour so badly right now and/or move. I love bmore and all but there’s a whole huge world out there to explore. This is just a tiny speck in the universe. And I’d come back eventually.

I’m so bored with myspace. I hardly ever go on it anymore. When I do, it’s just to check messages usually. I need a new site to be addicted to now hahaa.

So Rich Jones quit Amen like a day or two after our show with them. BAHHHHHH!!!!!!! Now there’s rumours of the other members leaving. But hopefully that’s not true. They got Acey (ex-Dope, current Murderdolls) to at least fill in for now.

Remember when MTV "You Hear it First" and the Buzzworthy videos were actually fucking good?! When it actually meant something?!

Watching My So-Called Life and Beavis and Butt-head lately makes me miss the mid 90s like whoah.
